ABOUT US

Our Director Shaun has been involved in sport for 30 plus years in one capacity or another whether it be taking part in football or teaching self defence from an early age. Progressing into the HM forces in 1994 he was introduced even more to the great outdoors mountaineering and other outdoor pursuits. Near the end of his Army Career he was able to play for his Regiment (1 Cheshire) as a left winger this was a huge honour. He went on to Play after leaving the Army on Saturday and Sunday league football while starting Manage  some Sunday league Sides. He began coaching at grassroots levels at the same time. He was fortunate enough in his early twenties to win the golden boot for the Manchester league in 2002 after a fantastic season that ended with the team being promoted into the Premier league of Manchester Sunday Football league. He also won the League Cup as player Manager in the same season. In 2010 after being a General Manager for a large Fitness Chain for nearly 2 years he decided to go out on his own and went to college and university to Back up all these accolades he loved so much. He went on to teach for The Manchester College after qualifying as a teacher through Huddersfield University in sports and public Services and the lifelong learning sector as well as his 2 years voluntary with them. He was then offered a position to teach for the Northern Premier League Academy Footballers at B-Tec level 3- 2 in Sports Coaching and Development level and spent 2 semesters tutoring and coaching at Radcliffe Borough football Club. 

"It was at this Point Base PT was born and Base Outdoor started to come to fruition."

Teaching/delivering DofE in a college setting along with other outdoor pursuits to which he was qualified only grew his love for training in the Outdoors.  In 2015 he wanted to give back to the institution that gave him some of the skills he had acquired as a youth and joined the Greater Manchester  Army Cadet Force as an Instructor to share all his skills and knowledge on which only increased his foothold to the outdoors to date.

To this day Shaun has acquired numerous Skills and accolades in coaching and training both indoors and out some of these are:-

Certificate in Education, Level 2 FA Coach, 1Kyu Karate Instructor, Mountain Bike Instructor AS Level 2, Rock Climbing Instructor, Abseil Instructor, Boxing Level 1, DofE Gold Instructor and Assessor, Mountain Leader,  Level 2 Diploma in fitness Instruction and a Level 3 Personal Trainer Qualification. To name a few
